This route was planned by komoot.
"At first glance, Wiesen's traffic location seems unfavorable, but two state roads intersect here. In the late Middle Ages, around 1400, Wiesen was even located at the junction of two important supra-regional traffic routes, the Birkenhainer Straße and the Eselsweg. This may be the reason why excavations at Wiesen Castle revealed finds dating back to the 13th century. At that time, a castle belonging to the Counts of Rieneck stood on this site, from which traffic on the trade route and the glass trade were overseen and financially exploited. After the Counts of Rieneck died out, the building visible today was built by the Electors of Mainz in 1597. Glass production and the glass trade characterized the forests and valleys around Wiesen at that time. The European Cultural Trail explores the cultural landscape around the settlement island of Wiesen, where a nature reserve, hidden and excavated glassworks, and traces of the work of Pastor Dr. Frank can be discovered." Today I forced myself a bit. I wasn't really inspired, but since the MTB tour didn't work out, I wanted at least some exercise and nature. The Wiesener Kulturweg has a lot to offer straight ahead, which at times becomes very monotonous. If it weren't for the fact that you could always hear the damn airplanes, at least there would have been wonderful silence. Unfortunately, two of the five panels of the Spessart project are also destroyed 😥. But in the second part of the route there is a wonderful hiking path through deeper forest and the view before it goes back to meadows is really wonderful. I am enthusiastic about this cultural path 🥰! A really beautiful forest just the way I like it! It went a long way along the Aubach and then the Birklerbach before turning right again towards meadows on a narrow, natural path.
The tour took us a large part along the Birkelbach and Auerbach through the forest 🌲🌳🌿 on paths that were easy for us to walk on. The last section then led us through the small town of "Wiesen" 🌻 to a small hill from which we had a beautiful view .
