Today we followed in Cinderella's footsteps. A magnificent landscape blanketed in snow is always worth a hike for us. The paths were quite slippery in places, the ponds frozen over, and at Marcolini's, the warming fire in the fire bowl was lit and inviting. A mystical atmosphere at dusk by the large pond, and the little owl Rosalie called for Cinderella, surely wanting to grant another wish. A very lovely hike... and to top it all off, we unexpectedly enjoyed a delicious dinner with dear friends.
With three sickly men in the house, all I could do was flee. So I threw all my tech toys in my backpack for a hike and headed to my favorite spot. As a starting point, I went to the forest car park at the Churfürstliche Waldschänke and as a stint I wanted to walk the Königsweg. The Königsweg is an approx. 11 km long circular route that leads through the historic cultural landscape around Moritzburg Castle. It combines the varied experience of nature in the Friedewald with the baroque charm of the hunting lodge and its gardens. The five adjacent ponds complement the circular route with one or the other bird watching ... et voilà: the perfect hike is ready.
...at Easter a detour to Moritzburg and the surrounding pond landscape - that's always possible! But you should possibly have a few snacks, i.e. finger food and drinks, in your luggage because the local gastronomic facilities could easily be "overcrowded". 😎
Beautiful hiking trail through the forests around Moritzburg Castle, past many lakes. When everything is green and blooming, it is certainly even more beautiful. And once you are there: a visit to the castle is particularly recommended for big fans of the Cinderella film adaptation (preferably during the week).
The visitors have left the house, so we decided to go for a little walk. It was going to be the Königsweg in Moritzburg. I could already see us among the crowds of people 🙈, but my husband said we just had to move countercyclically and it would be fine. He was right, the first people were already on their way to the festive feast at around 11 a.m. with bibs tied around them, while we were setting off. Apart from the castle and the lighthouse, we were almost alone, fantastic. When we arrived at the castle, the sun 🌞 had finally broken through. Nice, varied walk.
Today, in mild temperatures, we went to Moritzburg. Lots of people had the same idea. There were almost no parking spaces left, and it was like the heyday of the Cinderella exhibition. So, we quickly pushed our way through the throngs of walkers and into the woods on the Königsweg (King's Path). There, it was quiet again, with only a few drivers and hikers. Marcollini was closed for renovations, but the Ausspanne (a rest stop) offered refreshments for hungry day-trippers. Since almost all the ponds had already been drained, there was a lot of quacking ducks and hissing families of geese at the lighthouse and the large pond. A very pleasant walk came to an end in the evening light.
