On my last day, I'll take you through picturesque Dresden again and show you a few highlights of the city on this little walk. There is the magnificent Frauenkirche, which is already an imposing appearance from the outside. From inside I admire the high dome and the beautiful wall paintings in pastel tones and from the top I have a wonderful view over the city. We continue to the Dresden Zwinger and in the baroque building I can highly recommend the ZwingerExperience. But the Alte Meister gallery also has a lot to offer for art fans. The Semper Opera is of course an absolute must for music fans. We watched and listened to Swan Lake there and were very enthusiastic. And the city certainly has a lot more to offer, but we just couldn't manage more 😉😅

As is well known, the best comes at the end 😉 And the Saxon Wine Trail also has what I consider to be the absolutely most beautiful stage for the end of my hike. To say goodbye to Meißen, I first enjoy a picturesque view of the city on the Elbe. With a clear blue sky it goes up into the vineyards. I walk right past the vines, which are hung with thick, plump grapes. The deep blue Elbe meanders through the wide valley to my left. After a short stretch in the quiet forest, my absolute highlight for today comes. A fantastic view of the Elbe and the vineyards. "Wow" 😍😮I am thrilled 😄 What a great farewell look on my hike. Because then I walk past Seusslitz Castle and head straight for the paddle steamer, with which I then drive back to Dresden.

Today's stage is not long but all the more beautiful 😍 First it goes through wide field landscapes in which pure country idyll hovers in the air 😉But from here I can already see the high hills of the Spaar Mountains, which I will hike through today 🏔To do this, it first goes uphill through the dense forest. When it tears open I come to a small botanical garden and finally to a great view of the Elbe.I'm all alone up here and enjoy the fantastic view of the river and the peace and quiet. At least until it starts to rain 😅 From there it goes downhill over the Juchhöhe with a beautiful view of Meißen. On the last few meters into the city, I get really wet again and am just happy when I reach today's hotel in the middle of the Albrechtsburg. Here I am having a good time before I start exploring Meissen 😉Because there is so much to explore in Meißen. For today I will take on the huge cathedral and the fairytale Albrechtsburg. Both are very impressive and in Albrechtsburg I learn a lot about life in the castle, but also about making porcelain. After all, Meißen porcelain is world-famous and a visit to the town's porcelain factory is certainly very worthwhile. I'll just take it on for my next visit.

I slept in the middle of the vineyards and this morning I am also walking through the middle of the vineyards. 🍇🥾 Thick green and red grapes are still hanging on the vines and accompany me to the observatory. From here I have a wonderful view of Radebeul and Wackerbarth Castle. This is really fabulous in the middle of the lush green vineyards and invites you to linger. There is a lot to marvel at and learn at the adventure winery. I can even see how exactly wine is made. I'll tell you - after this hike I'm the absolute wine connoisseur 😉In the afternoon, through enchanted forests and over streets, I get to Lauben Castle and the moated castle in Oberau. Three towers are waiting for me, of which I can only climb one, as you have to borrow the other two keys from the tourist information office. But I save the extra kilometers on the long stage. When it is getting dark I reach my destination Niederau. Now I'm just pretty tired after this long day of hiking 😴

We slept in the beautiful castle hotel and enjoyed a delicious dinner there yesterday. Also this morning a rich buffet awaits us and after all the delicacies we can only start walking very slowly 😅Today's stage first leads through a small, idyllic piece of forest. Then it goes past the villas of Dresden to the funicular. We take it high up to admire the view of the whole expanse of the city from above. The Saxon Wine Trail leads us down to the Elbe, which shimmers in the sun. There we treat ourselves and our feet to a short break in the cool and clear water of the Elbe. Then the last but still long piece comes across Dresden. The asphalt and the heat make our feet smoke a bit. But since we also want to see Dresden today, we are moving up a lot 😉The rest of the day we explore Dresden with a city tour and can already admire some of the city's sights. In the evening we stroll through the baroque alleys and visit the heavenly ballet "Swan Lake" in the Semper Opera House. You can find more pictures from Dresden on Instagram:

Off to a new hike 🥾💚This time it will be a real pleasure and culture hike. Because I'll take you on the Saxon Wine Trail. Together with Matthias, I started early in the morning in the historic old town of Pirna. From the other side of the Elbe, where the hiking trail officially starts, we have another fantastic view of the city. And a little later we can marvel at the city again from above. The kilometers after that lead us back and forth through small parts of the city, beautiful residential areas, past a farm and through meadows and forests. At the edge of the path we find the Graupa hunting lodge and the Lohengrin house, where Richard Wagner fans get their money's worth. At the very end of today's stage, the Elbland stretches out in front of us in all its glory. The view enchants us directly. From here we can even marvel at Saxon Switzerland and get a little foretaste of Dresden, where we are going tomorrow 😍 Directly in front of us are the vineyards and the picturesque vineyard church, as well as Pillnitz Castle. There it goes down quickly and only a little later we reward ourselves with delicious delicacies in the blooming garden of the Chocolaterie am Fliederhof 😉 With well-filled stomachs we stroll through the palace gardens and admire the pompous buildings and the many colorful flowers. In the evening we hike again, because we hope for a sunset in the middle of the vineyards. And we're lucky, because when we arrive at the top, the red fireball is already leaning towards the horizon and bathing the Elbe valley in a romantic red evening light. The perfect end to today's hiking day.

This tour takes you on a flat route along the Elbe. You are on the left and right-hand Elbe Cycle Path.It starts in Meissen on the right bank of the Elbe. To start with, you cross the river and cycle north on the left bank. Here you roll past wide meadows, can watch happily grazing sheep along the way and let your gaze wander over the water to the slopes of the Elbe valley. In Niederlommatzsch you take the Elbe ferry and cross over to the other bank. Here in Diesbar-Seusslitz, it is worth taking a detour to Seusslitz Castle. If you still have power, you can also climb the vineyards and enjoy the magnificent view over the Elbe Valley. Then you swing back on your bike and ride on the right-hand Elbe Cycle Path back upstream towards Meißen. On the way you will pass some wineries. If you want to take a sip or two of the tasty Saxon drops, you can do that here. Then you roll into Meißen with a view of the cathedral and the Albrechtsburg, where you are back at the starting point.

The varied tour begins in Sörnewitz. Here you can first take a look at the impressive Boselspitze before it really starts. Also right at the beginning, some wineries await you, where you can take a break with tasty wine. Then you cross the Nassau landscape protection area, where you can let your gaze wander over the vast meadows and fields. Then a gentle ascent takes you to the moated castle Oberau. Here you can stroll through the park and let the ambience work on you.A stronger ascent follows, which first leads you past the Waldbad Oberau and then deeper and deeper into the Friedewald. Surrounded by a wonderful forest, you cycle on the high plateau to the Fuchsberg, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view. With the Fuchsberg you also leave the Friedewald behind you and zoom down on a rapid descent to Coswig. It continues on a gently sloping route to the Elbe. On the Elbe Cycle Path on the right, you will finally ride comfortably back to Sörnewitz, where you will reach the starting point of the tour again.
