Great destination for young and old. Knowledge about plants and animals of the forest is conveyed in a clear way. Nice to look at through replicas of mushrooms and birds, boards and spoken tape recordings. You can even get information here in Braille. Well done.

When it comes to mushrooms, the well-known principle applies: You can eat ALL mushrooms - some only ONCE.

Wilderness Trail, Nationalpark Eifel

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A very nicely prepared parkour. The original parkour was getting old and rotten, so it was partially renovated. The newly designed path has been equipped with beautiful spots and selfie points.
But here too, it is suitable for young and old, but it should still be dry. Otherwise there is a risk of slipping.

One of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful vantage point on the Rursee.

What a tour: From the Kermeter rest area over the "Wilde Weg" to the Hirschey lookout point, then down to Rurberg, from there over the waterland route along the shore to the Urftsee dam, and back over a crisp forest path. 17km on foot is a new family record, hopefully there will be a little more tomorrow!

I actually wanted to go with Helga and Toni 🤔 and I actually wanted to go around the Rursee 🤔 and the weather was supposed to be nice 🤔..... THAT was nice too 👍🌞
Well, the rest went differently 🙈Helga slept too long 🤭🫣🤣 and I replanned the original route because there were too many people 🤗. From the dam …

It's already our last day (for now!) in the beautiful Eifel. We decided to go to Rurberg, a small tourist village buzzing with energy. We parked at the tourist point and decided to take a look at a magnet for our collection in the store. We didn't find any, but we noticed that there are a lot of activities you …

The tour starts in Rurberg and initially follows the shore of the Obersee (Upper Lake) to the impressive Urft Dam. From there, it ascends through the Kermeter forest to a large crossroads and continues to the Hirschley viewpoint, offering a beautiful panoramic view of the Rursee (Lake Rur). Finally, a relatively steep path leads back down to the starting point.

Today, with beautiful May weather, we drove to the Rursee reservoir in Rurberg. There we hiked a route from the Rother Wanderführer Eifel, which we really enjoyed. Initially, you walk along the water, and later you climb up and repeatedly have great views and beautiful forest sections with beech forests. At the Hirschley viewpoint, you have a magnificent view of …

The tour begins at the Rur dam that separates the Rur from the Obersee. From there it always goes down along the Urft. A view from the Urfttal dam is definitely worth it! A bit further along the Urft, it soon goes left relatively steeply uphill. Once at the top, we continue more or less at the same level until …

Moderate hike with some nice vantage points.
The most difficult part is the climb right at the beginning of the tour.

That little bit of sun was announced, but it was only possible above the fog. (... and in my heart) The cold moisture creeps through everywhere. Still a nice round. And now I'm making myself some tea ...
