In ideal cycling weather, we cycle today along the Lauter River through the beautiful Bienwald forest (pure tranquility – just the sound of birdsong), an old stand of acacias, oaks, pines, and much more, to Lauterburg across the French border. There's nothing going on here, and the restaurant is only open Saturdays and Sundays. (You could have gotten delicious tarte …

We had barely crossed the Rhine when we unexpectedly found ourselves taking part in a triathlon. Unfortunately, we didn't have any swimwear with us 😉, so we continued on to Wissembourg at a more leisurely pace. After visiting the very impressive church of "St Peter and Paul" and stopping for some tarte flambée, we headed back to Germany.
