On April 28, 1893, the Ernst-Agnes Tower was inaugurated on the highest elevation of the Pfefferberg near Schmölln. The iron observation tower in steel framework construction was constructed by the Schmöllner Maschinenfabrik Paul Sylbe on behalf of the Schmöllner Beautification Association.
