View of Neuzelle Abbey

Highlight • Viewpoint

It almost seems like a mirage when you look inland from the Oder cycle path. In its baroque splendor, the monastery does not seem to fit into the otherwise simple Brandenburg. Surprisingly beautiful too and an absolute highlight!

August 7, 2025,Nr. 3 Forst (Lausitz) nach Eisenhüttenstadt🚴☀️
Today I rode the last leg. I went at a decent pace, so I didn't take many photos. But looking back, the stretch between Bad Muskau-Forst-Eisenhüttenstadt was the most beautiful.

The last Neisse stage starts in Forst (Lausitz).
It quickly goes to the Neisse and, as planned, the ONR via Guben to the mouth of the Neisse in Ratzdorf.
Then exactly 12 km to
Eisenhüttenstadt along the Oder.
The tour went smoothly 🌞 said
it again very well.

Today marks the 8th stage of the ONR from Forst to Eisenhüttenstadt, always along the beautiful, unspoiled Neisse River. Until we reach the Oder in Ratzdorf, where the waters of the Neisse River simply carry us away. Of course, stops for ice cream in Guben and cold drinks in Ratzdorf are a must.

Unfortunately, I pressed "End" at the second pit stop. The stage continues, but the batteries were seriously drained due to the sometimes gale-force headwinds.
I quickly asked at a Vietnamese-run garden center in Eisenhüttenstadt. They immediately brought out meters of power cables and vegetables. So, part 2 of today's stage follows.
By the way, picture 3 shows, more or less, …

It starts in Forst with a carnival atmosphere. Young members of the carnival club dance in front of the town church. Then we head to the river Neiße. Here we see the first war-destroyed bridge. On the way downstream, we will encounter several more.

I set off early on the Oder-Neisse cycle path, which is easy to cycle, because I knew it was going to be quite hot 🔥 today.

They didn't overpromise.

The landscape is incredibly beautiful and would be even more enjoyable if the weather wasn't quite so harsh.

Stage 4, we start under a bright blue sky. And we head back a little, because yesterday there was no time for the rose garden. We take the time this morning. We stroll through the park in peace and quiet, admiring the roses, whether they are noble, shrub, standard or hedge roses - they are all beautiful - we start …

Very good bike paths, often on the dam.
You can take a short detour over the bridge to Gubin for some delicious cake. In Poland, we were always able to pay with an EC card.
In Ratzdorf, it's impressive where the barely visible "little" Neisse flows into the large Oder.
In Eisenhüttenstadt, you can still find typical buildings from the …
