The building was constructed in 1947/48 under difficult economic conditions. The stones were broken by hand on site in the community's own quarries. The church was built with donations and personal contributions from the citizens of Frankendorf. The chapel, which was built in the neo-Gothic style, blends harmoniously into the townscape of the half-timbered ensemble of Frankendorf.
