Herzogstand summit cross

Highlight • Summit

Super nice view of the lakes and the Alps. Unfortunately very crowded on Sundays and public holidays. Few hikers, many day trippers...

Small cross on a rocky outcrop above the Kochelsee. Whatever it was set up there.

The Herzogstand offers fantastic views of some lakes in the north and the Walchensee and the Alps with all the mountains in the south. Fantastic in winter as in summer.

So to avoid overcrowding, a day's holiday outside of the school holidays helps, this round with great views would deserve it, and so would you.🤗

Dreamlike view

Highlight • Viewpoint

Do not wander this way on the weekend, too full and arrived at the top you do not even get to drink anything because too many people have ridden up by the gondola

There is too much going on at the weekend. Better during the week 😉

Family reunion at Walchensee. We took the cable car up and from there to the Herzogstand. A short hike with magnificent views. Even Munich could be seen on the horizon.

Unfortunately, Komoot did not record the return route via the Martinskopf

It's been a while, but it's definitely a must-do!

We first took a boat across Lake Kochel (the last trip of the year). Then it was back to Plan B: the train, because we had originally wanted to hike around the lake. But that would have been too tight before sunset.

From the Herzogstand (1731m) you have a magnificent view. So you can look south towards the Walchensee and the Karwendel behind it and to the north over the Kochelsee into the lowlands. At the summit, a small pavilion invites you to take a break.
The climb is on the southern slope without any shade.

Komoot turned on too late, but that wasn't a big deal. A wonderful hike – even through ice and snow – and finally, due to the approaching fog, we were no longer able to enjoy this indescribably beautiful landscape high above Lake Walchensee. At times, because we were hiking without poles, we only made tiny strides forward. Past the Herzogstand, …

Due to the crowds here on the mountain we canceled the tour

Showing Translation

The plan was to descend via the H2 trail 🥾🎒, but the sign said "Only for the experienced!" ... well, I preferred not to do that 🤕.

Nice intensive tour to the Herzogstand, of course you can run a distance if you are in good shape - definitely stressful in summer with the Munich residents
