Zell on the Moselle

Highlight • Settlement

I would like to point out the free local history museum in the town hall.
Nice exhibition, also about the flood and the clean-up work afterwards.
At the end there is a pendant with the black cat as a souvenir.

This section of the cycle path is part of the Kanonenbahn cultural trail, which runs along three different railway lines. On this section, the scenery is particularly idyllic, with the viaduct on the hillside, the vineyards and the Moselle.

Today, before the long journey home, we took advantage of the nice weather and did a little ride from Zell on the right bank past the vineyards and the old railway viaduct to Reil and then back on the other side via Pünderich.
The cycle paths were very nice to ride today - right by the river and mostly far …

Another bike ride along the Moselle and between the vineyards in the sun and clouds before heading home again tomorrow.
With its 92 arches, the Pünderich suspension viaduct is the longest of its kind in Germany. It is 10 m high and was built in the 19th century. It used to be used for military purposes and is therefore also …

Light rain didn't stop us from doing the little bike ride to the Prinzenkopfturm. From the top you have a wonderful view of the Moselle loops, towns/villages. It went steeply downhill between the vines to Reil. From there we cycled past the cannon railway to the grape harvest and then back to Zell.
Luckily we mastered the "path of suffering" …
