July 20, 2024,Stoneman Arduenna, dag 2: Sankt Vith > Robertville 🇧🇪🌤️🌤️🚵‍♀️
Another very nice route and a bit less intense in terms of elevation meters and steepness today 😅. There are a number of hike-a-bike sections, including a very steeply descending rocky hiking trail. We don't consider ourselves among the real MTB cracks, so we'll stop here. Despite the work that had to be done, it was a fairly relaxing day.

Day two of the Stoneman Arduenna. After the drop-off in the center of Sankt Vith, we headed to Bütgenbach today—we skipped the short stretch to the swimming pool. Compared to yesterday, the day was significantly easier in terms of elevation gain and profile, and the weather was sunny with temperatures just above 20°C and dry. But: The previous …

After a good breakfast we set off from the youth hostel in St Vith. First to Checkpoint Born and then to Malmedy. After the "Am Stein" landmark, there were two more ticklish descents over roots and scree. Then Malmedy = wonderful. Finally something to feed and liquid. Robert and Sebastian were back in time for lunch. So we were able …

Super great tour, awesome technical trails up and down. The overgrown sections were 😤 Otherwise pretty varied and great views.

Although less Hm it was exhausting today. And the ascent to the top of the Stoneman (Hochmoor Hohes Venn) was the easiest. Special this time were the trails, which were extremely slippery due to the rain from tonight - so it became a "bike tour" 😉
But the main thing is that the old bones stay healthy 😄

When the tour organizers write "rooted paths" and "playful descents", then my life is actually in danger! I had to push my bike downhill several times. On top of that, it was 2 degrees above zero, snow and rain, wind of course, and everything was covered in mud. You really have to want that!

Overall, the first stretch is much harder than the second. I have never ridden through so much peanut butter in my life as I have here😱😵‍💫

Showing Translation

We start the day with remarkably good legs. The wellness and the extensive breakfast have clearly done their job. Today seems easier on paper, but we know: in the Ardennes you can sometimes be disappointed. Nobody said that the Stoneman is easy, so we are happy to take on that challenge.
