The entire region is undisputedly a single highlight. The Dolomitenradweg on the old railway line of the Dolomitenbahn is perfectly developed and leads through small villages through the mountains. Amazing.

On day 6, the journey continues through the beautiful Dolomites - from Cortina d' Ampezzo, along the eastern "border" of the Piave river in Veneto.

It's simply wonderful to cycle through the mountains here and enjoy the fantastic views 🤩.
From Cortina d' Ampezzo, it was almost all downhill; you could just relax and enjoy some very fast descents 🥰👍.

Due to a breakdown, we drove part of the way in a van.

Today we have completed the longest stage of our bike tour. We descend again along the former Dolomite railway, some unpleasant dirt roads, but the majority is asphalted. Bridges, tunnels and lots of views. In Pieve di Cardore we descend steeply into the Piave valley, which we follow to Belluno. In Castellavazzo, a diversion led us astray again. The rest …

Heavy rain accompanied us through the beautiful Piave Valley. It was a shame, as there was little visibility of the surrounding mountains. But the rain gear, except for the sleeves, held up well against the persistent downpour. A pitiful bright spot when you're traveling in such a beautiful area.

It is simply impressive to cycle through the Dolomites. But you should definitely make sure to bring enough provisions, as there are hardly any refreshment opportunities along the way.
