Early start in the dark through the deserted streets. Path above the village was blocked with a sign warning of €500 fines for going further up the volcano. Black sandy path up to L'Osservatorio which unfortunately is now the end of the road. Great to linger and watch the small eruptions as the sun came up. Lovely black sandy beach …

Almost there, only a hundred meters of altitude difference to go, I let myself be intimidated by a herd of goats higher up...I thought about the presence of sheepdogs! Then I met two people from Strombola on the way back who assured me that they are free without dogs in tow... okay... I'll try again tomorrow☺️
