Traditional important stop along the Camino Portugues to Santiago de Compostella.

Quaint off-road section of the Camino de Santiago trail, following the Rio Bermana valley between Caldas de Reis and Carracedo. Apart from a small paved section most of it is a wide dirt and gravel road in good condition. At the end there is a hard but short climb.

Sanctuary of Escravitude

Highlight • Religious Site

Just five kilometers from the historic center of Padrón, this church is one of the most iconic on the Portuguese Way of Saint James. The story tells that it was born as a result of a miracle: a man suffering from dropsy was cured 72 hours after drinking from the fountain that is still preserved under the steps, at street level. Thanks to the donations of this and many others who came to "heal" the temple was erected.

From Santiago de Compostela we went on the Camino Portugues to Pontevedra. We mostly followed the Camino and avoided the country roads despite the rain. Some of the paths were slippery and you had to be careful.

The area is incredibly green - no wonder with the rain 😊. The small hamlets with their small streets were a welcome change.

I had originally planned to ride the Camino Portugueseese de Santiago back to the van in Ponteverda, but arrived Santiago de Compostela later than planned so decided to tour the tarmac N550 for most of the way and fast track my return, however I still had a parking ticket when I got back :(
Today, in dry weather, we went back on the camino to Compostela... brilliant tour, word seems to get around 🙃.. Endless hikers and there Alex with the bike 🚲... great atmosphere and great suffering.
I got along well with the rain today thanks to the numerous bus shelters 👌🙃..

T66 - since today I'm on my way alone again, without Heimbert.
Without coffee we head straight south. I haven't made a plan yet as to where I'm going to stay tonight.
In the end I end up in a nice hostel in Pondevedra. I cross the city on the way to the hostel. A beautiful city with a great …
