Le Clos Lucé – Leonardo da Vinci

Highlight • Castle

The Château du Clos Lucé was the summer residence of several kings of France, until François I placed it at the disposal of Lénoard de Vinci who lived there for 3 years, until his death in 1519.
Today the Château du Clos Lucé showcases all the genius of Leonardo da Vinci through a permanent exhibition retracing and explaining many discoveries and inventions of Italian genius. The park is very pretty and can also be visited. Bike parking is available inside the park.

Port of Chaumont-sur-Loire

Highlight • River

Several pretty traditional wooden sailboats are installed at the port of Chaumont-sur-Loire. It is possible during sunny days to take a trip on these small boats with the Milliere Raboton association: milliere-raboton.net. The port is ideally located near the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire.

Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire

Highlight • Castle

The Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire is part of a duo of châteaux that must be seen together: Chaumont-sur-Loire and Chenonceau. Indeed, these two châteaux were owned by Anne of Poitiers and Catherine de Medici (Catherine de Medici having forced Anne of Poitiers to give her her château—Chenonceau—and take hers—Chaumont).
Chaumont is also interesting for its aesthetic quality, but also for its setting (gardens, stables, hamlet, etc.) and the famous people who have stayed there (Proust, Sarah Bernard, the Sha of Iran, Germaine de Staël on the run, etc.).
This must-see attraction is not to be missed.

Candé-sur-Beuvron

Highlight • Historical Site

Candé-sur-Beuvron is a charming village of just over 1,000 souls. If you arrive from the south, you will discover the old stone bridge which spans the Beuvron and which makes the reputation of the city.

For the homeless, you will find a few shops in Candé to eat and spend the night.

The Jacques-Gabriel bridge bears the name of the architect who designed it in 1716. This stone bridge crosses the Loire and offers a superb view of the city of Blois.

June 12, 2023,Loire - von Blois nach Amboise 🇫🇷
The scenery is a bit different than the first stage, you always drive away from the Loire on small side roads, which also has its charm. Only the last few kilometers are a bit monotonous. Like Blois, Amboise is well worth seeing.

In the morning, I was still lazing around while most of the others had already left. It's incredible how many people are out on their bikes with two, three, or even four children, and they also have to camp and transport all the equipment. The younger children are pulled in a trailer or follow-me. Respect! For me, the ride continued …

Day 18: from Blois to Amboise - on the EV6

Beautiful warm morning, the church bells had already done their best several times.

Around the corner, opposite the Mission Patrimonie, there is a good boulangerie, where we got baguettes and croissants. We had coffee in a small bar.

Anyone who believes that the Loire Cycle Path runs along the Loire also believes that the Baltic Sea Cycle Path goes along the Baltic Sea. But still beautiful.

We continued to Blois. However, not without a great breakfast in Amboise...... That's how I imagine France...... A great historic town. A boulangerie...... croissant...... cafe au lait..... a dream start to the day..... After a little main road it went a little off the beaten track and again a few well-kept small but nice climbs ...... Doris was enthusiastic....... Today …
