Ingelfinger Fass Wine Barrel Museum

Highlight • Monument

An impressive building and a fantastic view. There's also a lot to learn about winemaking on the wine trail (marked with red grapes on a white sign).

Würzburg Gate

Highlight • Monument

The Würzburg Gate is one of Forchtenberg's historic city gates and an impressive example of medieval urban architecture. 🏰🚪

It is located at the eastern entrance to the old town and was once part of the city fortifications that protected Forchtenberg from attacks from Würzburg. With its massive masonry, characteristic round arch, and adjacent half-timbered houses, it still exudes strength and history.

Alte Straße between Forchtenberg and Ernsbach

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Above the L1045 runs the Ernsbacher Straße. It is also part of the ebm Pope Marathon, which takes place every year on the 2nd weekend of September in the Kocher Valley.

Great wine bar, cozy, good food, nice hosts. Great place to stay in Grandma's Penn-sion, belongs to the wine bar.

Forchtenberg Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

Forchtenberg is a beautiful town on the Kocher. In addition to enough hospitality and places to relax or unwind, there is now also an e-bike charging station with 3 lockers on the newly designed bank area. A little further there are shops and a great bakery with filter coffee, sweets, cakes and meat loaf rolls. 👍👍

Forchtenberg Town Wall and Walkway

Highlight • Historical Site

The city walls and battlements of Forchtenberg are impressive examples of medieval defensive architecture – and still shape the appearance of the old town today.

But beware: some pigeons live in the tower and have left a lot of droppings all over the place. It's not really that nice.

Niedernhall's historic old town

Highlight • Historical Site

Known for its viticulture, Niedernhall is surrounded by a beautiful vineyard landscape. But also in terms of its historical center, the town in the north-east of Baden-Württemberg with its unmistakable town hall has a lot to offer. The best thing to do is sit down on one of the local terraces and order a glass of local wine or grape juice. Then you've killed two birds with one stone. ☺️

My daughter and I started in the duo marathon discipline. The 1st runner was allowed to run from Niedernhall in the direction of Künzelsau on the cycle path. Shortly after Ingelfingen we went up into the vineyards 🍇.
At the height it went back to Niedernhall. There was a change to runner 2 🏃‍♀️ …
