Highlight • Lake

Braunschweig's Green Island. Countless paths meander under shady trees around the South Seas. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, you will quickly find peace here. A walk is just as possible here as a bike ride through the countryside.

Western Ring Trail, Braunschweig

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The ring track is a railway line in Braunschweig, which was expanded to a walking and cycling path over about eight kilometers. The path leads through residential and commercial areas as well as green spaces and networked nearby park and green areas.

The first section of the route running in the western ring area was inaugurated in 2003 in the area of the western railway station and was initially referred to as the "western ring track". Until 2011, the expansion from the Oker in the north opposite the Braunschweig-Mitte thermal power station to the Harz + Heide exhibition center in the south. In further construction phases, a new bridge was built over the A 391 and in 2016 the crossing of the Oker at the thermal power station.

The southern part of the ring track from Westbahnhof is also part of the Braunschweiger ZeitSchiene project.

In May 2011, the city of Braunschweig published a master plan for the ring track. The entire ring track was included in the planning for the creation of a pedestrian and bike path around the entire city center of Braunschweig. In the new concept, a motto is assigned to the individual sections of the ring track: the western ring track becomes the social track, the southern ring track becomes the railway track, the eastern ring track becomes the park track and the northern ring track becomes the track through technology and nature. The completed ring track should cover a distance of around 19 kilometers.

I've ridden it many times but it's always nice 😀
There were a lot of cyclists on the road, even on the roads where you rarely see anyone.
I was really surprised.

On the ring track BS
Cycling is a sport that will last a lifetime, which not only trains our stamina with joy and great fun, but also contributes a lot to people actively experiencing nature together, even in the city. Doing something good for our environment and nature at the same time...

It was just a round “ring track”.
But I like driving this route.

If you already want to cycle the Braunschweiger Ringgleisrunde then you can also get some reinforcements right away.
Was fun and not too busy either.....although the weather was perfect.

One often hears the opinion that there are only a few places on the ring track where you can quench your thirst and hunger. I was thinking the same thing!

So I looked up which cafes, restaurants, kiosks, gas stations and grocery stores you can see directly from the ring track.

Since the ring track has pretty much everything in terms of subsoil, plus the South Seas and along the Oker, it was probably the right test to see if the air would hold.
Sometimes I think things aren't going so well, then I have a different opinion.
The only thing that has remained today is that the sound of the …

What a quick ride.🫣 There is so much to discover on the ride along the ring track that you can stop every few meters to take photos and …
