View of Trzy Korony

Highlight • Viewpoint

The view of the Three Crowns from the pedestrian and bicycle footbridge over the Dunajec River at the Red Monastery is one of the most recognizable views of the Pieniny Mountains. From this place, you can see the characteristic limestone peaks of the Three Crowns rising above the river gorge, and the footbridge itself is a great vantage point and a stop on the VeloDunajec cycling route or the Trail Around the Tatras. It is also an ideal place for a short break - you can take a photo here, sit by the river or visit the nearby monastery.

Červený Kláštor Monastery

Highlight • Religious Site

Červený Kláštor is a picturesquely situated Carthusian and Camaldolese monastery in the Slovak part of Pieniny, right above the Dunajec River, opposite Sromowce Nižné. The building dates back to the 14th century and is famous for the figure of the monk Cyprian – a legendary herbalist and traveller. Today, there is a museum here, which allows you to learn about the life of the monks, old natural medicine and the history of the region. The monastery is located on a popular cycling route and is a great place to rest and explore. Access is possible both from the Polish side via a bicycle footbridge and from the Slovak side via an asphalt road.

We went with my wife right after we arrived in Szczawnica. The weather was good so we started lightly.
A great idea for everyone - from small to large for a bike ride.
The route is light and pleasant. We recommend

After we didn't really get our bikers' money on the raft in the morning, we decided to get on our bikes and cycled the 12 km upriver from Szczawnica to the red monastery. After a monastery beer (in euros, because on the Slovak side) we went back very relaxed. The mostly concrete cycle path is 2.8 m wide throughout. On …

What can I say when I'm speechless? The beginning of autumn has dusted the linden trees with gold, and the shaded green of other trees enhances the contrast with the limestone rocks. It's stunning.

I can't name it Gravel Heaven. Maybe after the renovation it will be better, so far it was a terrible ride. Apart from the fact that there are crowds on the route. At the return it was practically empty. Phenomenal views 😍
