June 2, 2025,Taormina mit schwerem Ausbruch des Etna
Today, everyone was looking up at Etna much more. While we were in Taormina, a severe eruption with a pyroclastic cloud occurred. This pyroclastic cloud is said to have swept down two valleys at a very high speed. Authorities suspect that hikers were killed (burned).

Last day of our trip to Sicily and the Aeolian Islands. 🌋

After returning to Sicily and a relaxing afternoon by the pool and the sea, a stroll through Taormina was on the agenda to round off the day and the trip.

Beautiful historic buildings, luxury shops, and very unique little businesses. The vibrant life here is truly delightful. 😎

On the way to Catania?, the mainland has us again, we stopped in the indescribable town of Taormina at the foot of the constantly smoldering Mount Etna.

The atmosphere is indescribable, and 2.5 hours is too short. Of course, we had to visit the historic theater.

It was almost never possible to take photos without people around.
