September 14, 2025,[Sizilien | Taormina] Auf den Felsen über dem Meer
High above the sea, on the slopes of Monte Tauron, clings the city of Taormina. With over 10,000 inhabitants, it's not all that small. Due to its spectacular location, it's one of Sicily's tourist hotspots. Even good old Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited here. But let's start from the beginning...

Showing Translation

Taormina is the most beautiful ancient city of Sicily, founded by the Greeks and Romans. With a large amphitheater from the old days.
Extremely touristy with masses of people, so seen a bit ambivalent, but otherwise very nice with the many old buildings and the charm.

City tour in Taormina at 37°C. The city park is a highlight, and not just because of the shade. The ancient theater is also worth seeing. From there you also have a great view of Mount Etna, which was spewing lava again yesterday. The negative thing is that instead of €5, as written everywhere, admission now costs €12.
