Coming from all sides, the hill with the church is a real eye-catcher in the hills and mountains of Brda. From the hill there is a great view to the north and south. There are catering facilities available. A partisan memorial from World War II gives an idea that this hill was fought over.

The 8 August Bridge is one of the fundamental road axes between the city of Gorizia and the Isonzo area. Its name recalls an extremely symbolic date for the city. On 8 August 1916 the 28th Infantry Regiment of the Pavia Brigade, commanded by second lieutenant Aurelio Baruzzi, reconquered the city after the retreat of the Austro-Hungarian army. It was the first tangible victory achieved after almost 15 months of war.

A short distance from the 8th August Bridge, intended for vehicular traffic, stands parallel the Railway Bridge over the Isonzo, an imposing structure characterized by stone support pillars and steel beams which extends for over 200 meters and which played a crucial role in connection of the railway networks between Gorizia and Nova Gorica.
