Highlight • Viewpoint

From here you can enjoy a splendid view of the mountains that are part of the regional natural park of the Julian Prealps.
On the slopes of the mountains there are some villages with low houses that make space among the trees.

Lagoon Cycle Path between Aquileia and Grado

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Beautiful and also the final section of the Alpe-Adria cycle path. The last few kilometers of the tour run right through the Grado lagoon. Here the cyclist can finally breathe the sea air. The Grado lagoon is very salty compared to other lagoons. The fauna and flora in the lagoon are very lush. Over 150 different species of birds live in the lagoon alone. Many migratory birds rest in the lagoon in spring and autumn. The variety of different species of mussels and fish is also large. For example, the Capa Tonda and the Venus clam live here, as well as various types of shrimp, sole and perch.

One of the largest of the several hundred islands in the lagoon is called Barbana. On Barbana there is a pilgrimage church with the statue of the Madonna and Child, to which the fishermen of Grado hold a pilgrimage every year on the first Sunday in July, the so-called Perdon de Barbana. There are restaurants on several islands in the lagoon. So if you want to rest in an extraordinary ambience, you have come to the right place.

Finally arrived in Grado - hottest bike tour ever!

So done. The last stage was very dark at the beginning and rain started to fall in the afternoon. Still very nice to cycle through the Italian villages.

A quiet drive through sleepy villages to Grado, which was crowded with people and shops. Back to the great campsite in front of Grado, on a small island in a lagoon, and let the evening end with a view of the water.

We set off in beautiful sunshine, even with a tailwind, and then the thunderstorm came. The day was exhausting but no less beautiful.

Showing Translation

The second to last day began with a beautiful sunrise over the sea.

First we went to the seaside resort of Grado.

Of course it is known as the start and end point of the Alpe Adria cycle path, which I also wanted to follow northwards.

Tag2, I am thrilled with both the beautiful Alpe Adria cycle path and the e-bike 🤣

June 1st...from Grado at 32 degrees Celsius at 10 a.m....This time, the Alpe Adria heading north. A completely different perspective, as I've already cycled the route south from Salzburg to Grado twice. Today, on Sunday, I encountered countless bikers with panniers – I was the only one heading north. Almost all of them take a bike shuttle back to Villach …
