Hatzenporter Laysteig Climbing Section

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Short fine via ferrata, without great challenges. Nevertheless, you should always wear sturdy shoes on such sections.

This vantage point is fully justified in its name; high above the river between Lasserg and Hatzenport - on the 21st stage of the Moselsteig (from Moselkern to Löf) - it offers a very beautiful view upstream and downstream.

October 26, 2024,Treis Karden - Hatzenport auf dem Moselsteig
There is a second day of trial hiking on the Moselsteig, which I really enjoyed, just like the first day. The fact that Eltz Castle, which is undoubtedly the highlight of the tour, is very busy on this Saturday doesn't change that. But I have the beautiful viewpoints almost entirely to myself in the second part of the tour.

Nice hike with friends in great weather☀️and good conversations and something to toast to🍻..
Beautiful passages and Eltz Castle is phenomenal..There are ups and downs, nice paths and some muddy, puddled sections..
It was a mega tour..afterwards we hiked home from Kröver Berg

Because of the current flooding of the Rhine between Oberwerth and Stolzenfels (part of the 7th stage) we had to bring forward the 8th stage of our Way of St. James today. It was worth it: perfect pilgrim weather, Eltz Castle and very beautiful nature trails.

After a good night's sleep🌛, we enjoyed a great breakfast at our accommodation.

The trail started out fairly flat today, but still interesting...

So we crossed the Moselle Bridge to Löf
and first walked a good stretch along the Moselle, with the railway line on the left and the slate mountains on the right.

What can I say about this stage...
I ran out of superlatives today. You have to endure so much beauty first.
I "lost" the Camino at the very beginning and continued on my own path. Later I realized that I had landed on the Moselsteig. At a place to take a break, Rilke shot through my head: "Be still from …

So, that was the third stage of the Moselhöhenweg (I extended it a bit, once added a really good gorge, I could have given myself the other extension, that was nothing) ... it definitely went up steeply as always, then a super cool trail above the Moselle... A locked castle, but an open little chapel (where I took a break …

Wow 👌👍😄Here we go at -4°C... second stage even more beautiful... hardly anything better... totally blown away... the Moselle is simply amazing... it simply couldn't be better. We added a few climbs at the beginning because the original route ran along the road and railway tracks for about 5-7 km... so before we reached Hatzenport, we climbed up into the …
