This dam serves as flood protection, drinking water storage and energy generation. Information boards provide information about the construction and much more about the dam. Worth seeing!

Today, the family was clamoring for a short hike with no elevation gain. It wasn't easy, as all my other plans involve climbing between 500 and 700 meters.
But we settled on a loop around the Frauenau drinking water reservoir.
The first half was along a beautiful root-filled path through the forest, while the second half was unfortunately entirely on …

It was the sixth day in a row with low-hanging clouds or high fog, so not mountain weather! If we're going up a mountain, we want visibility. So we decided to walk around the Frauenau drinking water reservoir. The return journey along forest paths and trails was particularly beautiful and interesting.

Wonderful circular hiking trail around the dam with fascinating views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. If you walk clockwise, the left side is asphalted and on the right side there is a wonderful, narrow path over hill and dale.😉It completely messed up the pictures, but that doesn't matter.🫣

A beautiful and mostly shady walk around the dam. Why did the Bavarians plant all the spruce trees with their roots on the ground? 🤔😉

A 50/50 way. While from the southern crown to the summit it is a beautiful path, narrow hiking trail, through the forest over hill and dale 😉.
From the apex to the north crown only asphalt.

The dam can only be seen from the crown.
Hm...

Another wonderful hike. Even when the weather isn't so good (like today).
We just love these forests here. 🌳
So quiet, pure nature. 😍🐕

Showing Translation

Nice hiking trail without major gradients. The first part is more interesting to walk, the second part is mostly paved. There are many benches along the way that invite you to take a short break. Always interesting views over the lake.

Even if you don't expect it, it's a varied route through beautiful nature. It could also be done by bike.
