It is impressive how deep the tower is in the water and how much water has to run in before it can drain out of the drain valve.

Simply fantastic. Highly recommended but challenging. We were fortunate enough to walk at 28 degrees and sunshine, especially when there is still snow on the upper part of the route. 👍👍👍

Nice cozy round, but if you take the forest path on the south bank then sturdy shoes should be already at the start, because especially in moisture / moisture lurking the roots and stones ☝😉

The drinking water dam in Frauenau was created due to a lack of groundwater in the Bavarian Forest and was built from 1976 to 1983. The drinking water reservoir is a worthwhile excursion destination and also serves as a starting point for many hikes through the Bavarian Forest National Park. The tributaries are the Kleine Regen and the Hirschbach, which arise in the unpopulated area between Falkenstein and Rachel. Some beautiful hiking trails with wonderful views also lead around the reservoir and towards Kleiner Rachel and Großer Rachel or Kleiner Falkenstein and Großer Falkenstein.

Dam for drinking water reservoir. You don't think so when you walk along it.
October 2, 2020
The last part of the tour runs, especially since there is hardly anything to see along the reservoir. Only when the dam is crossed are there still great views.

You can only see how high the dam and the water level is when you walk over the top of the dam.
