When the trees have no leaves, you have a good view of the railway bridge near Oberrieden from here and, if you're lucky, you can also see a train passing over it.

Stage 3 continued from Ludwigstein Castle through the forest with a long, beautiful descent along the slope. Over the Schnellerkopf (412 m) and Rosskopf (482 m), we continued and returned to Bad Sooden-Allendorf for the night.

Of the three sections we have walked so far, today's was the most beautiful. For the first four kilometers you have a great view over the Werra valley, then wide paths alternate with natural ones, so that it remains nice and varied. Later there is a beautiful section that leads through a mixed beech and oak forest. The path is …

This is a beautiful but challenging section.
A lot of uphill, but normal for this area.
From Kammerbach up to the Rosskopfturm, it was really exhausting..
The paths are great and varied.
The landscape is just gorgeous..
Have fun

490 m up, 550 m down. Today there were two tough climbs on the agenda, each of which was rewarded with great views. On the hike from Ludwigstein Castle to Bad Sooden-Allendorf, gravel paths and forest trails alternated. The beech forest slowly turned into oak forest. Birdsong accompanied me all day. Overall, it was a strenuous but worthwhile tour.

Today we walked stage 5 of the Werra-Burgen-Steig from Bad Sooden-Allendorf to Ludwigstein Castle. A long route with beautiful vertical meters (500 meters) and views. There are also a few sections that are not as varied with forest roads through the forest. Highlights are definitely the Rosskopfturm with a complete panoramic view of the landscape, the natural monument Großer Habichtstein …

We spend the night in Bad Soden Allendorf. The bus takes us back to Ludwigsstein Castle early in the morning, but we forget to get off and go one stop too far. What now? Take a shortcut or take a bus back? But that one doesn't leave for another hour. So Beate comes up with the brilliant idea of hitchhiking. …

Well, today's hike didn't go according to plan, but still made it 😂 with a 1 1/2 hour delay 🙈😀
After a stopover in Velmeden and a nice appointment with ADAC, I could continue my journey 👌😀

I started my hike from the Öhrchen car park on the Werra - Burgen - Steig in the direction of Bad Sooden Allendorf. …

Today I continued my hike on the Werra-Burgen-Steig trail: Stage 5 from Ludwigstein Castle via the Habichtstein rock formation, to the Rosskopf Tower, and down to Ahrenberg. Normally, the trail continues past the terrace of the Hotel Ahrenberg to Bad Sooden-Allendorf. However, due to time constraints, I had to arrange to be picked up at the Ahrenberg parking lot and …
