Bust of Ignacy Jan Paderewski

Highlight • Monument

The bust cast in bronze according to the design by Professor Stanisław Sikora stands on a pedestal of grey granite. The idea to honor the patron of Skaryszewski Park emerged as early as 1937. A monument was created, the unveiling of which was planned for September 1939. Due to the outbreak of World War II, this event did not take place. Ultimately, the I. J. Paderewski Monument was erected in Ujazdowski Park, while a bust was placed in Skaryszewski Park. The sculpture was unveiled on September 12, 1988, thanks to the efforts of the Society of Friends of Warsaw, as part of the celebrations of the seventieth anniversary of regaining independence. The bust was funded by Janina and Zbigniew Porczyński, and it was they who performed the act of unveiling.

It is worth mentioning that the entire "Skaryszewski Park" is named after I. J. Paderewski :-)

The most modern and largest facility of this type in Poland, as well as one of the symbols of Warsaw, built for the European Football Championships in 2012. It is located on the site of the historic Tenth Anniversary Stadium, which has hosted the most important sporting events since the mid-1950s: interstate matches of the Polish national football team, finals of the Polish Cup in football, the Warsaw Derby, the Peace Race, as well as large propaganda rallies. After the fall of the Polish People's Republic in 1989, the "Fair of Europe" - a gigantic marketplace - operated around the crown, and then also on the surrounding meadows.
