Stawa Młyny (Windmill Beacon)

Highlight • Monument

The landmark of Swinoujscie. The mill beacon stands on the western pier and shows ships the entrance to the Swine. The stylized windmill is almost 10 meters high and was built in the 19th century. However, it was not painted white until much later. The photo spot in Swinoujscie par excellence: one of the most romantic places in Swinoujscie.

Świnoujście Beach

Highlight • Beach

The beach in Świnoujście is the widest beach on the island of Usedom. Sand that has been eroded from other parts of the island is constantly washing up here. The beach is sandy and several kilometers long. To the east, it is bordered by the western pier with the Mühlenbake (mill beacon), and to the west by the German-Polish border off Ahlbeck. However, this border does not hinder beach walks toward Ahlbeck.

The water is initially shallow, so even children can swim. Beach chairs are still relatively rare; most people bring their own windbreaks or blankets. Directly outside the town, the beach is quite busy in good summer weather.

Toward Ahlbeck, however, it becomes quieter. Those seeking complete peace and quiet can take the ferry across the Świna River. Then find a spot on the beach on the island of Wolin, east of the Świna. Until Międzyzdroje – about 15 kilometers away – there are no other beach resorts, and everyone can find a quiet spot on the almost deserted beach.

The sound of the waves, accompanied by the warming autumn sun, fills the air as we walk along the beach.

In the distance, towards the horizon, flocks of birds fly by, one after another.

Are the geese now beginning their long journey south?

Meanwhile, the salty taste of the sea lingers on our lips.

The view of the clouds is almost mystical.

Like pillars, they seem to touch the ground.

Świnoujście Beach

Highlight • Beach

The beach of Swinemünde is Poland's widest sandy beach, known for its fine, light yellow sand, clear water and cleanliness, awarded the "Blue Flag" every year. It offers many access points, a long promenade, beach bars, water sports facilities and is ideal for families and walks.

... remarkable what he did with me today out of sheer enthusiasm 🤩👍🏼👦🏻 ... two crabs are probably ticking the same 💞👏🏼

The world-famous painter Lyonel Feininger (1871 New York to 1956 New York) stayed on the island of Usedom for a long time and found many inspirations for his work here. Between 1908 and 1921 he explored the Baltic …

Świnoujście is an interesting port city. There is a lot to discover if you take your time.

Świnoujście on Usedom already belongs to “Polska”. It's interesting to experience the slightly different flair in the neighboring country.
After successfully using the parking machine, we first walked along the very drafty beach. Then into the city with its pedestrian promenade, the harbor and the fortresses from the Prussian period. A “big pot” came by on the Swina.
There was …

Easter weekend on Usedom.

If you have time, you should definitely include Świnoujście. Whether on the beautiful, wide sandy beach, the pier with the mill beacon, the harbor area, the West Battery (Fort Zachodni), the city itself or the great, new promenade, Świnoujście is worth a visit at any time of the year.

The Baltic Sea with its winter aura
❄️❄️☀️❄️❄️🫶

My walk was beautiful, cold ❄️❄️❄️.

A breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea 🫶🩵.

Try walking on an empty beach when the wind carries the scent of iodine and the waves whisper in the rhythm of stillness.

An interesting trip to Swinoujscie, just over the border.
The two fortresses, Fort Aniola (Castel Sant'Angelo) and Fort Zachodni (West Battery) are particularly worth seeing. In the latter there is also a museum with many original finds from wartime. Depressing and interesting at the same time.
Right next to the West Batterie we found a great restaurant with an old …

Photo 1 actually belongs to photos 13 + 14, photo 2 is an overview of the forts on both sides of the Świna estuary.

It was a nice loop through the very different architectural, historical, military, touristic and natural areas of Świnoujście with occasional 🍻 stops (one fitting to bridge a huge 🌧).

Every year I go back to Swienemünde with my dear friends. Today we walked from the hotel along the beach to the harbor entrance, then on to the marina and finally into the city. A break with a delicious tea in the department store café. Well rested, we walked back through the park and the last few kilometers along the …
