Torre dell'Impiso

Highlight • Monument

This is one of a network of watchtowers built in 1594 to warn the main Trapani port of pirate activity. The tower in question would light a fire, the next tower would see it and light a fire as well, until the message would reach Trapani.

Sanctuary of San Vito

Highlight • Religious Site

The sanctuary of San Vito Lo Capo dates back to an early Christian church. The underground baptismal room can be dated to the 5th/5th century AD. From the fifteenth century the church was expanded as a fortified church and therefore gives the appearance of a castle tower today. The town developed around the Sanctuary from the early 19th century. This is how a settlement was created directly on the sea, which belonged to the ancient mother city of Erice, located on the mountain of the same name. Inside the sanctuary there are numerous works of art, such as sculptures by Giacomo Gagini (1587) and by Orazio Ferraro (1624) and by contemporary artists (Kodra, Settembrini, Pedone, Capri Otti, Cassisa, etc.). In the annexes of the sanctuary that is "Sankt-Veits-Museum" housed, handicrafts and devotional items are shown here, and testify to the veneration of St. Vitus. In summer, Holy Mass is read in the garden of the sanctuary.

Cala Bue Marino

Highlight • Beach

Cala Bue Marino
Voted the most beautiful beach in Italy for the year 2015, in the "The most beautiful is you" competition, announced on the web by Legambiente, this small basin on the Makari coast is truly breathtaking. Even ahead of Camerota, in the Salerno area, which had held the record for two years, whose crystal clear water and pebbles, typical of this coast, fit perfectly into a landscape halfway between sea and mountain.
The beach was also the protagonist of a recent scandal: an attempt was made to create access to the sea with an excavator, causing immeasurable damage to the surrounding environment and irremediably ruining the coast, which falls under state maritime property.
Cala del Bue Marino can be reached by car to the large car park above, on the road that leads from San Vito Lo Capo to Castelluzzo.

Gulf of Macari

Highlight (Segment) • Beach

Route along the coasts of the Gulf of Macari, not far from Cala Bue Marino. The water is so blue and clear that it seems good to drink.

Agliareddi Beach

Highlight • Beach

Two splendid white pebble coves at the entrance to the Monte Cofano Reserve. From here you can dominate the entire gulf far from the din of the summer crowds. Entry into the water is facilitated by the natural slope of the coast towards the water. Also suitable for children although you have to be careful as the deep water is just a few meters from the shoreline. You can arrive by car via a coastal dirt road.
