Normally you are on skis on this route in January ;-)

Finally found time for hiking again 😁. We started from the hiking car park between Oberhof and Schmücke, then along the Rennsteig over the Beerberg (982.9m), past the high moor, to the Plänckners Aussicht and on to the Gehlberger Hütte. Stormed the beer garden there and found the shandy to be delicious. Then we went the last meters to the …

A pleasant walk between Rennsteig and Schneekopf.

Because it was so beautiful back then ...

Our year at Komoot began with a snowy round on the Schneekopf. We knew exactly: This year will be adventurous, refreshing and at the same time exhausting! Even back then, on January 2nd, 2021, I said to my partner: "The Schneekopf & the Große Beerberg somehow magically attract me" & so it …

We did this tour today because the weather forecast predicted a short-term improvement. Unfortunately, that was only for a short time, but rain is liquid sunshine 😊🌧🌞 we started from the parking lot to the Plänckers view where unfortunately there was no view due to the weather ☹️ it didn't matter we continued towards the Schneekopf where you can see …

Nice circular hike from the Ausspanne car park to the Schneekopf, on to the Rennsteig, past Plänckner's view and back to the car park. Easy to walk paths except for the short ascent to the Schneekopf. Sometimes very wet at the moment, so hiking boots are recommended.
A stop at the Neue Gehlberger Hütte is highly recommended. Quaint hut.

If you are already in Thuringia, we take the highest mountain with us 😉 but first we climb the Schneekopf (978m) with its wonderful panoramic view... not difficult from the parking lot 😆 from here we go to the Großer Beerberg (983m), the highest ⛰️ in Thuringia.
