Hellenistic Tombs at Patara

Highlight • Historical Site

Those tombs are most likely of Hellenistic origins as they do not follow the older pre-Hellenistic Lycian style and there are no sarcophagi parts around. As it doesn't have rounded arches, a typical sign for Roman/later Byzantine architecture, Hellenistic or Hellenized Lycian it must be.

The walk starts just below the Roman aqueduct spanning the ravine at Delikkemer. For quite some time, you will be actually walking on top of the fundaments of this ancient water pipes. There is only one fresh water source and no cafe in route until you hit the beach.
