It is shown in flyers as a nice tour, and it is, but there is no indication that there is no ferry in Eining on Mondays. There is no other way to get to the other side of the Danube. Without a card or a cell phone you look stupid. Difficult to find a way even with these tools.

Today we went to the Altmühltal again and cycled a route similar to three years ago to the Weltenburg Monastery in Kehlheim and to Riedenburg. Simply wonderful in the Altmühltal.

The cycle tour through the Altmühl Valley and over the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Monastery is definitely one of my favorite tours. For long stretches, the tour goes along small paths directly along the Danube. Today we went swimming in the Danube Gorge for the first time. A great experience in a fantastic setting that I can only recommend to …

The way to Weltenburg Monastery was rather tranquil along the Altmühl... the way back was a real adventure with the Danube crossing by ferry and the subsequent section on the Limes hiking trail. The hiking trails here are in really good shape and can be used well. Be careful with …

Beautiful varied tour with little traffic, especially the path on the former Schambachtalbahn is very idyllic

The destination of this tour was Weltenburg Monastery and, as is almost always the case, it was planned as a circular tour. When I look at the photos I took, it almost became a castle and palace tour. Between Weltenburg Monastery and Eining, the route was still badly affected by flooding. It was a mud fight like no other. There …
