River Hase near Bramsche

Highlight • River

The hare slowly mumbles through the landscape.

6.32 km

Here the hare is dammed up in front of the Alfsee in order to adjust the inflow to the Alfsee through the overflow as flood protection. When the tide is low, little water flows into the lake, and more when the tide is high.

8.50 km

The Hase is quite cramped here, that is, there are dykes to the right and left.
And then there are different runs of hare (deep hare...)

July 14, 2022,Alfsee | Malgarten, Bramsche, Hesepe
Also a nice route | Trekking bikes are recommended, although not essential.

Along the Hase to the Alfsee, then via Malgarten Monastery (very neglected), with some handicrafts, and medieval half-timbered buildings to Kalkriese - to the cult site of the Varus Battle! That was 9 AD - we go there by bike a good 2000 years later! Back to Bramsche on the Mittelland Canal!

Showing Translation

Two monasteries, idyllic cycle paths along the Hase and the Mittelland Canal and the Alfsee were on this beautiful round trip from Bramsche. Unfortunately, it cannot be overlooked that there is a lack of rain everywhere.

Showing Translation

Today we went on a great tour with my wife through the Osnabrück region.
It was a nice, varied round.
Highlights:
Malgarten Monastery, St. Johannes Church, Alfsee, Bramsche Marktplatz.
We liked it very much.

Showing Translation

In Hesepe, the circular tour begins near the train station, so you can conveniently arrive by train. Shortly after the start, you will reach Bramsche, where you can visit the Tuchmachermuseum (Textile Museum) during a first break. Along the banks of the picturesque Hase river, you will then reach the Mittellandkanal.

START GOAL: Parking lot at the pilgrimage site in "former Johanniter Kommende Lage"

DIRECTION OF DRIVING: counterclockwise.

NOTE: In the "Kalkriese" area (south of the MittellandKanal) a section of 1.4 km is recorded twice.

Showing Translation

Due to a detour to the Alt Barenaue moated castle and an extra loop because we missed a sign in Lappenstuhl, we didn't stick to the actual 47.9 kilometers.

We started the round at the “Varusschlacht” because there are good parking options there.
