The favorable location of the town in the fertile Aischgrund basically suggests that it was founded at the time of the Frankish conquest (until the 8th century). On the other hand, the fact that the place was originally a fiefdom of Bamberg, which means it was founded in the 11th century at the earliest, but probably in the 12th century, i.e. a later phase of the state’s expansion, speaks against it. In 1612, the town included eight goods belonging to the Bamberg Bishopric. During the Thirty Years' War the place became deserted.[3]

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 8 estates in Weidendorf (2 farms, 1 half farm, 3 Sölden, 1 house) and a parish shepherd's house. The high court exercised the Bamberg Centamt Höchstadt, but this was challenged by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste and jurisdiction office in Dachsbach, which acquired high jurisdiction in 1795. The Amt of Höchstadt was in charge of the village and community as well as the landlordship of all properties.[4]

From 1797 to 1810 the place was subject to the Justice Office Dachsbach and Chamber Office Neustadt. As part of the community edict, Weidendorf was assigned to the tax district of Uehlfeld, formed in 1811, and to the rural community of Mailach, formed in 1813.[5]

After 1961, but before 1970, Weidendorf was incorporated into the municipality of Sterpersdorf. On May 1, 1978, Weidendorf was incorporated into the town of Höchstadt an der Aisch as part of the local government reform.

Dachsbach Moated Castle

Highlight • Castle

Dachsbach Castle is the former residential tower of the moated castle on the western outskirts of Dachsbach in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Bavaria.

The complex is also called Wasserschloss Dachsbach and, because of its six-story construction, occasionally called the Hohes Haus. It is one of the landmarks of Dachsbach.
