The Kap Arkona lighthouse is the name given to two sea lights on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. They are located at Kap Arkona on the Wittow peninsula at the northern tip of the island of Rügen. The Kap Arkona direction-finding tower is within sight. Both lighthouses were renovated in the early 1990s and are open to visitors. The old lighthouse now houses a museum with an exhibition on beacons and sea rescue, as well as an outpost of the registry office. Marriages celebrated here are immortalized by a small plaque in the ground in front of the tower. Each tower has an observation platform, from which you have an unobstructed view over Rügen and in particular the Wittow peninsula. On a clear weather you can see as far as the Danish island of Møn.
