Moselle cycle path to Mertert, then on the Luxembourg route Piste Cycable de la Syre No. 4, it follows the Syre (Sauer) to Roodt sur Syre, and then on to Luxembourg. Hilly route, very rural, small villages, practically no traffic, except at Senningerberg. Everything is well signposted, into Luxembourg on a separate cycle path, great.

Shortly after 1 p.m., we arrive in Konz near Trier by train from LU. First, we visit a café. Shortly before 2 a.m., we set off, leaving the Saar estuary behind us and cycling a short distance up the Moselle before crossing to Luxembourg by ferry. It's blazing hot, and soon we'll face the first serious climb.

With a lot of luck and kind words, I found a bicycle space on the RE train from Düsseldorf and quickly decided to cycle through to Luxembourg to return to Trier. Mostly nice cycle paths, avoiding two construction sites.

Today I set off on what will probably be my last big tour of 2025. The plan is, weather permitting, to drive through Lorraine and Alsace.

Today I took the train to Trier, visited the Porta Nigra and the cathedral, before heading towards Luxembourg along the Moselle and the old railway lines.

First on the Moselle Cycle Path to Trier for a bit of sightseeing. Then back to Luxembourg. My legs are looking forward to a day's rest.
