Wobachfelsen Muschelkalk Cliffs near Bietigheim

Highlight • Natural Monument

The "Wobachfelsen" rock formation is made of very porous rock, and in the past, the mountain rescue service "beat" it down annually to remove loose rocks. In the area where the restaurant and beer garden used to be, the slope was even secured with steel nets to prevent rockfall.

The footpath/cycle path, which opened at the beginning of October 2020, initially ran over an approximately 3 km long section of the Vaihingen (Enz) Nord – Enzweihingen railway line. This is a disused standard-gauge branch line (opened in 1904) of 7.33 kilometers in length that connected Enzweihingen via Vaihingen Stadt with the Vaihingen (Enz) Nord station (also called Reichsbahnhof). The cycle path has since been extended on both sides over the former railway line and now connects the Reichsbahnhof with the Enz bridge to Enzweihingen. You can easily reach Kaltenstein Castle via the cycle path. It is then only a few meters in altitude.

...that was the motto today! Unfortunately, it kept trying to hide behind veiled clouds, so it didn't really get any warmer 🤷

It's getting cold. It is particularly noticeable in the shade or when the wind is already light. But it's a wonderful tour, a little bit longer today!

Nice ride to celebrate the beginning of autumn 🍂
What a contrast: yesterday it was a summery 30 degrees and today it's already a cool 15 degrees - brrr 🥶😅
Half of the tour was still pleasantly warm and dry - but from Vaihingen onwards, the rain jacket was put to good use.
Still, a nice, relaxing tour off the …

Nice tour, easy to drive even for inexperienced people.

The entire tour today was 65 km, Komoot didn't work the whole time. Very nice route, especially the way back on the Enztal cycle path, lots of shady spots and always right along the Enz.

Since I had some important things to do, I decided to go for a nice little walk 😁

It's supposed to rain heavily again today, so let's do a quick tour beforehand! The route changed along the way depending on what the sky looked like 🤭. It was also shady for a large part...

Who doesn't know that fantastic bike path where you can cruise through Vaihingen with uninterrupted right-of-way? And now it's even been extended at both ends. That means it now starts in Enzweihingen and ends at the very edge of Kleinglattbach. It's not officially open yet, there were still a few barriers, but since there were no workers in sight, I …
