Ahrsteig Trail

Highlight • Trail

Here you go up the Ahrsteig, sure-footedness is required here, as some of the paths are broken. There are also two viewing points on the way to the top.

Serpentine trail to Habichtsblick

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Very steep descent. If you don't have hiking sticks with you, look for a stick on the way beforehand to support you. Makes it easier. :)

Krausberg Tower

Highlight • Monument

The view from the tower is fantastic. If you are coming from Dernau or Walporzheim, the descent to Rech is recommended. From there the train runs every hour back to the starting point.

Serpentine Trail on Krausberg

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The narrow forest path leads from Krausberg to the Ahr valley - or vice versa. You hike mostly under the trees, but wonderful views open up again and again.

Very nice paths and lots of mosquitoes 😅 and the €2 coffee from the Eifelverein was also delicious 😋

Very nice hike with viewpoints and comfortable benches. The climb is tough though. My knee. We had to deviate from the original tour in two places. Once there was storm damage and then there was a construction site on the Ahr. We got caught in a rain shower on the Krausberg. The path was very slippery.

ATTENTION! At about km 4.3 the descent to Dernau is closed. It is really almost impossible to get through there, so if you are not a good climber you should go straight ahead.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the hike was great fun. Perfect. Highly recommended. Best regards, Dieter

Today we went again to the Ahr Valley to do a tour near Dernau....The start was a hiking car park near Walporzheim. We first hiked up the Krausberg via serpentines ... the path is characterized by slate rocks and is wooded with saplings and pines. The different moss on the rock completes the picture and is always nice to look …

The tour began along gentle slopes, but we soon found ourselves immersed in the protective forest of the Ahr Hills. Fresh air and forest floor beneath our feet – just what we needed.

The path was steep but easily walkable, and after the climb, there it was: the Krausberg Tower! – the heart of the tour! Majestic. Imposing. Unmissable.

Narrow, secluded paths lead above the Ahr River opposite the Dernau vineyards. Then, it climbs steeply up the mountain, offering several magnificent views of the Ahr Valley toward Bad Neuenahr and the hills with their oak forests. Once you reach the ridge, a magical path leads through young trees and blooming broom. After enjoying the view from the observation tower, …

It's been on the list for a long time and today I made it. Wonderful mainly in the forest on paths. Three quarters of the route is Ahrsteig. Have a nice Sunday or Mother's Day everyone 🙋🏼‍♀️
