The Bakkeveense Duinen is a nature reserve in Friesland. Near the Groningen and Drenthe borders. Here you will find forests, heathland and a sand drift. Since the 1990s, a herd of Exmoor ponies has grazed It Mandefjild, as the area is also called. There is also a herd of Drenthe heath sheep roaming around.

Beautiful walk through woods and along heaths. In between we had a delicious lunch at De Slotplaats, a beautiful place and good restaurant. From there you can also walk several marked routes.
