Disappointing. Not much countryside, lots of highway and city traffic, including inattentive pedestrians, cars, an underpass here, an intersection there where you get three red lights to ride straight ahead on the bike path. My tip:
Drive the route backward from Heidelberg to Mannheim and turn around in Mannheim.
