The new Boye Uferweg is now finished, the two bridges (on the Hahnenbach and in the forest are also passable. The path is now passable from the bridge at Ente Lippens to the Welheimer Strasse at the Halde Mottbruch.

Great asphalt, easy to roll, feeling of industrial culture emerges.

RS1 cycle highway

Highlight • Cycleway

Only parts of the RS1 exist so far, once the Radschnellweg has been completely expanded, you can drive from Duisburg to Hamm. Information on the overall project is available on the website rs1.ruhr.

I commute between Duisburg Bissingheim and Essen (Niederfeldsee) by bike. So far I've cycled on the RS 1 in MH Stadtmitte. After the section up to the FH in Mülheim was completed, I use this ascent/descent, which is closer to me.

The RS1 is awesome for making fast progress. No traffic lights, no intersections in the traditional sense. The Radschnellweg is being discovered more and more by skaters, pedestrians and joggers, which can sometimes lead to situations where there is only one path that everyone shares. No problem at all, except for the sections in MH Stadtmitte. Flower beds and benches have been laid out here, which limit the available space and ensure that you have to slow down.

Some restaurants / beer gardens along the route have already recognized the potential and have put up signs. So if you are passing through and have the classic (hunger, pee, thirst), you will find plenty of options.

For cyclists who also want to see something, I currently recommend the areas of Niederfeldsee (Radmoshäre) and in MH the area of the Müga.

Ideal connection from Borbeck to the RS1.
The alternatives are hillier and heavily trafficked.
