Biedensand is actually always worth a walk, even though there's currently no water in sight in either Welscher Loch or Rallengraben.
Only Fretter Loch still had some of the wet ground, so that geese, swans, ducks, herons, and cormorants could cool their feet in the distance …

The former river island of Biedensand is an integral part of the Lampertheim Altrhein nature reserve.

The Altrhein, the Rallengraben, at the Jägerbrücke, in the "Welchem Loch" and in the "Fretter Loch" the water level is quite high.
Apart from a few swans, we didn't see any other water birds today.
Showing Translation
Due to the lack of rainfall in recent weeks, not only was the Welsches Loch a lot smaller than usual, but the Rallegraben, which connects the Welsches Loch to the Heegwasser, was also virtually dry, except for a small trickle.
