Highlight • Cycleway

Relaxed cycle path along the Enns, with one or the other detour to the Dachstein (Dachstein Circuit) really worthwhile, making this highlight a lot more interesting.

Ascent to Oberhütte

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

A long climb, but easy to manage thanks to the gravel path. The view also distracts from the excruciating slope. When you have reached the top, you have earned a break in the Oberhütte.

Technically, a lot is required here. In some passages you will probably not be able to avoid getting off your bike. However, the experience and the view are worth it.

Today we went to the "roof" of the Taurista. At the very top there was a nasty, strenuous pushing/lifting section of about 2km and 200m in altitude 🥵
But the breathtaking panoramas more than made up for it. The 60m high waterfall below Obertauern was also impressive.

A very beautiful, but technically challenging mountain bike tour.
Definitely not for beginners!

T2 was much more relaxed than T1. In the morning I cycled 12km along the Enns cycle path to Mandling, to the start of the tour. From there I went over the hill to Forstau to get my stamps. Then it was along the Panoramastraße and a forest road towards Oberhütter See and the corresponding hut. It's at about 1850m. …

Day two again with the best weather 😄 and a nice company (Klaus from Aigen/Schlägl). The supply in the huts was 👍🍺

In numbers not as severe as yesterday. However, there is currently a diversion due to a rock fall, so that you cannot cycle up to the Oberhütte, but have to *carry* your bike 4 km on an - admittedly beautiful - climb. 🤬
Together with the regular carrying/pushing passage, this is pretty tiring.
But it relieves the bottom. 😅

Because I only made it to Oberhüttensee 3 days ago because of my "calf injury" (annoying bruise after a small crash), I repeated the tour today despite my slightly injured leg and completed it this time!
The route between Oberhüttensee and Obertauern is not to be underestimated! Balancing, lifting, lifting over, struggling, straining, cursing! It was all there.
But: when …

For over a year now I've been hearing that we absolutely have to do the Seekarscharte.
Driving is good! I just let myself be pulled up with the push assist, almost like skiing in winter, only no snow.
All in all a great tour, nice to be on a real mountain again.

Beautiful but strenuous pushing and carrying routes.
