Micheluzzi Alpine Hut – Duron Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Historic refuge located at 1860 m above sea level, in the heart of the magnificent Val Duron. Its history begins towards the end of the 19th century. At the time it was used as a simple stable for sheltering mountain pasture animals and as a tabià to store hay. At that time it was owned by Barbara (Bertola) and Luigi Rizzi de Ferat, a well-known Alpine Guide in the valley. Later the refuge was inherited by one of the daughters, Maria Orsola Rizzi, married to Battista Micheluzzi (known as Tita). The family spent the summers dedicating themselves to grazing and haymaking, giving hospitality to the numerous people passing by. The refuge was then known as Malga Micheluzzi. In the following years it underwent enlargements and improvements, precisely to meet the new needs of hospitality and refreshment of travellers. From the 1980s, for the next 12 years, it was managed by one of the daughters, Carmen, with the help of her children Graziano and Adriana.

Upon the death of Battista Micheluzzi, the refuge passed to his second daughter Adalgisa. Since 1992 Adalgisa and her husband Marco Bernard de Bernardo have carried on the family tradition by managing the refuge with their four children: Nadia, Erwin, Davide and Ivana. In recent years, further improvements and an important renovation were made which gave the refuge an aesthetic in harmony with the surrounding natural environment.

Today the Micheluzzi Refuge continues to be a point of reference for hikers in the valley, both in terms of catering and hospitality. The rooms on the ground floor and the bedrooms have been renovated, all with private bathrooms.
It is open both in the summer period (from the beginning of June to mid-October) and in the winter period (from the beginning of December to the end of April).

Duron Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

A great classic for mountain biking in Val di Fassa, Passo Duron rises in front of those who pedal at the end of the homonymous valley. From here, the view of the Dolomites and the Alpe di Siusi is simply indescribable.

Zallinger Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Zallinger is very nice, but is also often very crowded. It is worth to stop before the summit storm to Tierser Alpl and to recharge the power reserves - you need them afterwards!
