Chapel on the Mühlenberg The mountain chapel was built in 1949/50 at the suggestion of Father Calsing on the border of the three parish villages of Dockweiler, Dreis, and Betteldorf. It was intended as a collective expression of gratitude for the fact that the parish had been spared extensive war damage. Many citizens contributed to the chapel's construction. The municipalities of Dockweiler and Dreis supplied the wood, and many other citizens contributed to the chapel's construction. On July 2, 1950, the chapel was consecrated by Father Calsing in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows. From the chapel, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Dockweiler, extending to Dreis and Brück.

The castle has now been beautifully renovated - a real gem in the small town. Right next door there is a small café with a view of the castle (unfortunately, thanks to the missing section of the A1, it is right next to the busy road). Arriving in Dreis from the Dreiser Weiher, the compact castle immediately catches the eye. A three-story gabled house with a round stair tower. Built in 1597.

To the chronicle of the mountain chapel: After the end of the war in 1945 there was a growing desire among the population for a place of prayer as thanks for the fact that the parish had been spared lasting war damage. The pastor at the time, Calsing, coordinated these first efforts and in 1948 the boundary between Betteldorf, Dockweiler and Dreis was chosen as the location for the chapel. A year later, cathedral builder Weyres received the order from Bonn to start planning the chapel. In the years 1949 and 1950 the chapel was built in-house. The Pieta by the sculptor Wilh. Tophinke from Brühl was donated privately. The blessing of the chapel in honor of the painful mother took place on July 2, 1950. On December 8, 1972, the original wooden figure was stolen. Since then, a plaster figure has stood here that was previously to be found on the left side altar of the parish church. Every year in May the processions from the three parish villages meet here for common May prayer. The chapel is very well maintained and a very nice place to linger and pause for a moment. In addition, you have a wonderful view of Dockweiler and the Eifel world from here. A bench in front of the chapel invites you to take a break.
