Weske, the Witven is not located in the Kampina, but in the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen nature reserve.

Deep in the Kampina nature reserve, nestled among heathlands and stream valleys, lie the tranquil remains of Hoeve Balsvoort. This medieval farmstead was once part of the estates of Berne Abbey and was an important agricultural center in this water-rich region. The monks used the fertile lands along the streams to grow crops and raise livestock. Over the centuries, the farmstead was repeatedly ravaged by floods and wars, until it was finally abandoned and slowly fell into disrepair. What remains now are ruins and remnants of walls that almost blend in with nature, yet offer hikers a glimpse into a distant past. During a hike through the Kampina, this spot forms a unique historical focal point in a landscape dominated by fens, heathland, and forests. The contrast between the rich natural environment and the centuries-old traces of habitation makes the ruins of Hoeve Balsvoort an atmospheric and almost mystical stop along the route.

It's nice to sit inside for a while and watch the busy bees.
