The Pronte Vrouw is often associated with the 'Contente Mens', another well-known symbol in Eersel, and her husband is considered a 'Contente Mens' because of her.

The chapel was built in 1464 in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was used for masses, but there were many rules to follow. For example, no mass was allowed on Sundays, no business was allowed in the chapel, and it had to be locked after each mass to prevent pigs from entering. After a while, it became clear that the chapel wasn't used much, and people preferred to visit the main church. The chapel served several purposes afterward. It was used as a town hall, later as a prison, and at one point, it was put to practical use as a fire engine storage facility. Now it's simply a chapel again.

On the green triangular square in Knegsel stands the Sacred Heart statue as a reminder of the rich Roman life.

The statue of the "Contente mens" has become the symbol of the national character in the Kempen. In earlier times, the people of Kempen had to work hard for a meager income. Despite this hard existence, they did not complain, were content with what they had and accepted life as it came. The inhabitants of the Kempen still cherish the good things in life and exude great satisfaction.
