A recent "renovation" has covered half the Greenway (the half closer to Stratford) in loose pea gravel. It is an uncomfortable and unstable ride and very frustrating compared to the much nicer second half, even if the second half is narrower and has a few potholes here and there. Best to come prepared for that.

After a wet winter all non roads very wet be prepared my Brompton coped very well but I got wet feet

From here it is 'just' 185 locks to get to London ;-)

Beautiful and well preserved half-timbered building, you will not find many in similar style and quality around. Even if you do not enter the museum it is worth a detour to have a view.

Fountain does not really describe it well, more a minature church tower (which can also dispense water).

Just after the marina there is a steep but sturdy set of steps taking you up to the footpath above the river.

Stratford Greenway is a former railway (the Honeybourne Line) transformed by Sustrans into a surfaced, multi-user path. Traffic-free other than a few road crossings, it runs for 5.3 miles (8.5km) from Stratford-on-Avon train station south through peaceful countryside to the village of Long Marston.

The canal basin/Waterside area is a nice place to relax on a hike. It is close to the town centre and the RSC Theatre. Food and drink is available and there is often one or two very talented buskers to listen to whilst you relax and recover.

She could have made a better bridge

Quirky converted train carriage that's a great little cafe. Well placed on the Stratford-upon-Avon Greenway just outside Stratford. Closed on Mondays but open 9am to 4pm every other day.
