The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Fametta is located in Castellazzo di Bollate, in the province of Milan. The small church stands in a secluded spot at the end of a long, tree-lined avenue, opposite the Borgo di Castellazzo cemetery. Originally, it appears to have been a medieval watchtower, transformed into a dovecote in the 15th century and then into a chapel in the 17th century. The current building was constructed in 1808. Located at the top of the Montagnetta (little hill) created by the Park in the late 1980s on the waste from the Breda blast furnaces, the monument is dedicated to the approximately 600 factory workers in the industrial area of Sesto San Giovanni who were arrested by the Nazis and deported to concentration camps.
