Situated at an altitude of 1862 m, in the heart of the Rio Rosso valley (Rotbachtal), Daimer Alm is a hiking destination and a stopover for numerous Alpine destinations. Overlooked by the imposing outline of the Sasso Nero and the nearby Rio Rosso waterfalls, the small stone building is named after Josef Daimer, an Austrian doctor and ministerial official. Originally from Campo Tures, he was a pioneer of mountaineering in these valleys, as well as the founder, in 1873, of the local section of the Alpine Club.

In the Rio Rosso valley, near San Giovanni in Valle Aurina, the Daimer mountain hut is an ideal starting point for hiking adventures. The hut is named after Josef Daimer, a doctor known throughout the Val di Tures: on his initiative, the Tures section of the German-Austrian Alpine Club was founded in 1873. A delicacy to be enjoyed here is the typical grey cheese, the “Graukäse”.

Impressive and unusual mountain hut, perfect stop for the ascent of the Schwarzenstein or on the way towards the Berliner Hütte. Team and food simply strong. Definitely coming back!
